Our Fill sand, also known as cable sand, is a manufactured fine aggregate with a consistency of 0/6mm grading, making it ideal for use as a non-structural backfill material across a range of groundworks and civil engineering applications. Due to its compacting nature and consistency it is ideal for the use beneath pipework, ducting, concrete slabs, paving, and flagging. Fill sand is frequently chosen for utility trench reinstatement and void filling where a stable and compactable layer is required.

Fill Sand Description
Commonly used for backfilling trenches, creating stable bases, and filling voids, this fine sand is graded to a specification of 0/6mm creating a uniform grain size. Fill Sand enables a smooth finish and easy compaction through all its on site applications, within construction projects where a non-coarse material is essential for protecting pipework and cables, Fill Sand is the first choice, during and after installation.
Fill sand reduces the likelihood of sharp edges damaging underground services, an advantage over coarser aggregates. It also compacts to form a stable base with minimal settlement, which is essential for long-term performance beneath surfaces such as flagstones, concrete pads, or tarmac. While not designed for high-drainage applications, its fine structure provides consistent coverage and ground stability.

Building Sand
Our building sand or often referred as river sand is a fine 0/2mm soft sand used for block or brick laying and general mortar applications. Due to its consistency it delivers a smooth and workable texture, which when combined with cement it creates high-quality mortar with strong bonding properties. We source our builders sand from three regional deposits, providing us with red, yellow, and mission grey sand. Once dried the mixture will set as a plain grey colour, regardless of the original colour.
