Building Sand
Our building sand or often referred as river sand is a fine 0/2mm soft sand used for block or brick laying and general mortar applications. Due to its consistency it delivers a smooth and workable texture, which when combined with cement it creates high-quality mortar with strong bonding properties. We source our builders sand from three regional deposits, providing us with red, yellow, and mission grey sand. Once dried the mixture will set as a plain grey colour, regardless of the original colour.

Building Sand Description
As the name suggest Building sand is commonly used within the construction industry for mortar applications, as when its combined with cement it creates a consistent mix and smooth finish. Building sand is a much finer and soft sand that combines easily with cement and water due to its grading of 0/2mm, enabling it to be easily manipulated as a workable mortar that bonds well to brick and block.
The construction industry may be the primary use of building sand but isn’t the only purpose, building sand is commonly used as animal bedding in agricultural and domestic settings as it can create a soft and absorbent base.

Despite the natural colour variation, once mixed into mortar and set, the final finish is typically grey in appearance.
